FAQ

Answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Products

My product appears to have melted during shipping. Is it still safe to use?

Yes! A change in consistency doesn't affect the overall effectiveness or quality of our products. They are designed to perform best at room temperature, but during shipping—especially in warmer climates, when left in a hot mailbox, or due to changes in pressure or elevation—extreme temperatures can cause them to soften or become "oily". Similarly, in colder weather, the balm may harden if exposed to freezing temps. If your product has melted, you can give it a quick mix and pop it in the fridge to help it firm back up. We recommend allowing it to return to room temperature before opening or using it.

How should I store my tallow?

The best way to store your tallow is at room temperature and out of sunlight. If your tallow has melted due to over exposure of heat, simply give it a quick mix and put it in the fridge until it firms back up!

Does your tallow go bad?

On the back of our jar, you'll find a 'Best Used By' date to indicate the recommended timeframe for freshness. This is a general safety guideline, but many products remain perfectly fine well beyond that. Always check by smell and appearance first. Our tallow balms typically last at least a year—often much longer! For extended freshness, you can store them in the fridge.

Is tallow safe for my face?

Yes! Tallow is highly beneficial for most skin types, including your delicate skin. Its natural structure closely resembles that of human skin, allowing for easy absorption. Packed with essential vitamins like A, D, E, K, and B12, organic tallow can help with skin concerns such as eczema and diaper rash. It’s a nourishing and natural alternative to synthetic creams. Always make sure to test it on a small portion of your skin to make sure you don't have a reaction!

Is your tallow balm greasy?

Our tallow is not greasy, although a little bit will go a long ways! Made from natural ingredients, it absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling amazing and smooth!

What are the benefits of tallow?

Tallow deeply hydrates and nourishes the skin with essential vitamins A, D, E, and K, leaving it soft and smooth. It helps soothe inflammation, reducing redness, itching, and swelling from conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or insect bites. Additionally, tallow supports healing by creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture while shielding the skin. Its natural composition closely mimics the skin's barrier, promoting healthy cell renewal and improving skin tone. Free from synthetic chemicals, Tea Tree Tallow offers a gentle, toxin-free solution suitable for all skin types.

Also for Cooking! Tallow's high smoke point makes it ideal for cooking at high temperatures without burning or producing smoke, ensuring even cooking. Additionally, its rich, beefy flavor enhances the taste and aroma of dishes, making it a flavorful and reliable cooking fat.

What is grass-fed and finished tallow?

Grass-fed and finished tallow is beef fat that comes from cattle that have been exclusively raised on a grass diet for their entire lives without grain finishing.

Here’s why that matters:

  • Higher Nutrient Content – Grass-fed and finished tallow contains more omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) compared to grain-fed tallow. (That most companies use)
  • Cleaner & More Natural – Since the cattle aren’t fed grains, hormones, or unnecessary antibiotics, the tallow is considered a more natural and pure fat source.
  • Better Flavor & Quality – Many people find grass-fed and finished tallow has a cleaner, more neutral scent and taste, making it ideal for cooking and skincare.
